Katherine

After another epic breakfast we left out northern most point of this trip. We are heading south again before our westward journey continues. So down the road we went and I was happily chugging along below the speed limit when I noticed my estimated fuel to empty did not match the distance to destination. So I had to slow down until I could be sure of a gas station within reach. Boy this bike chugs the gas at speed. We have left the humidity of Darwin behind us and we are now back in the familiar dry heat which peaks at 38. At that temperature it is like riding into a hair dryer.

A little bit of deja vu as we pulled into the same motel we were in last weekend.

A big highlight for me today was buying a new pair of walking shoes, the ones I bought for the trip are just a bit narrow so someone who shops at Red Cross Katherine is going to get a bargain.

As I think I mentioned previously Katherine is probably not the safest place to wander about at night so we had an early dinner at McDonalds, the sounds and smells of that place brought back memories of my working life.

The next few days weather is looking decidedly dodgy with some quite heavy downpours forecast, so we will wait and see. There is even a suggestion of some localised flooding. We originally had planned another off road adventure with a camping night thrown in but we have abandoned that idea for now.

So it is westward ho tomorrow!
