Jabiru

  • Last night there were a couple of storms and some heavy downpours. Lots of cloud cover and the temperature was a little lower but the increase in humidity is really noticeable.

Another semi rest day, I think the heat and time on the road has caught up with us both so a bit of a recharge is welcome.

Today we backtracked the 40 odd km’s back towards Cahill’s Crossing. Just before the crossing we deviated away to an Aboriginal rock art site called Ubirr.

Just a short walk to a few sites and definitely worth the ride out here. It’s just so hard to imagine some of these paintings date back 5000 years.

We also clambered up some rocks to a wonderful lookout for spectacular 360 degree view.

Then in the afternoon was a repeat of yesterday. Lots of recharging going on.

  2. The rock paintings are amazing - even the different styles of art - highly individual. Beautiful.

  3. Just mind blowing the age of these drawings and how they have survived so well
